ROC - Roux and City Grill

Apparently I'm not the only one with a to do list for Rochester. Glad I'm not the only crazy one around! But it was talking to my friend Sam and apparently she has a list too. Her's is a little smaller than mine and much more manageable but she's also from Pennsylvania so she has less time here to get through the list while I'm stuck in Rochester for forever apparently.

We went through her list and realized it matched with mine a little. Thus our decision to go to Roux was made! And just for good measure we decided to go to City Grill afterwards for drinks to knock a couple things off of her list.

Roux is on Park Ave here and replaced Ci Bon which was a cute little Italian restaurant that I liked. Apparently the owners decided to mix it up and change from Ci Bon to Roux which specializes in French inspired cuisine. Works for me.

Sam got the arugula salad and french fries while I got the Smoked Basque Style Piperade. Basically it was a lamb sausage, a fried organic egg with garden mint and a baguette on a bed of tomatoes. I ordered breakfast without realizing it. I'm smart.

Caught by the lovely Sam Kimmel midway through photographing my food - only a little embarrassing!

Anyhow! It was a pretty good meal. Nothing too exciting. The bread was great and my meal was a pretty good size. Sam's salad looked a little on the smaller side and she said she was glad she ordered the side of french fries. The service was iffy and our waitress seemed to be having a rough day and was very scatterbrained and charged the wrong meals to our credit cards so I ended up paying for Sam's meal and she paid for mine. Awkward.

Honestly not sure I would go back. It didn't wow me and make me want more.

ON TO CITY GRILL!

LOCATION: 384 EAST AVE, ROCHESTER, NY 14607

We got to City Grill and while I've been once before, Sam had been wanting to go so it was a fun treat. I ordered an alcoholic Black Raspberry Ice Tea while Sam got the City Grill Margarita. It was a pretty solid drink and had a pretty good amount of alcohol in it. While we were there we met the coolest gay man ever, who bought a round of shots (I had to pass because I was driving) and proceeded to show us pictures of his very attractive partner, and his two daughters from his previous marriage. He is also apparently a regular and knew the bartenders because he began to introduce us to the very attractive Sam. That's right - double Sams. It was a a really good time and we had a lot of fun. He was a great person to meet and we both enjoyed the hour we spent drinking with him.
